Sizzling, shareable, and full of bold flavor. These HeartBrand® Certified Akaushi Beef® fajitas keep it simple while letting that rich, buttery marbling shine—quick-seared, perfectly sliced, and piled high with peppers and onions for an easy, crowd-pleasing meal.
Ingredients
Serves 4-6
- 1 (2-pound) package HeartBrand Certified Akaushi Beef® Seasoned Beef Skirt for Fajitas
- 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
- 2 bell peppers, sliced (any colors)
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 lime, cut into wedges (plus 1 tablespoon juice, optional)
- 8–12 warm flour tortillas (or corn tortillas)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
Optional toppings (keep it classic):
- Sour cream
- Shredded cheese
- Pico de gallo
- Sliced jalapeños
- Guacamole
Preparation
- Bring Steak to Temp: Remove the HeartBrand® seasoned skirt steak from the fridge 15–20 minutes before cooking. Pat dry lightly if there’s excess moisture (the seasoning is already done for you).
- Sear the Steak: Heat a large cast-iron skillet (or grill) over medium-high to high heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Sear the skirt steak for about 3–5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until nicely browned and cooked to your preferred doneness (medium-rare to medium is ideal for skirt).
- Rest: Transfer steak to a cutting board and rest 5–10 minutes to lock in juices.
- Sauté Veggies: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add sliced onions and peppers and cook 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly charred. Squeeze in a little lime juice if you want a brighter finish.
- Slice Correctly: Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips (this is key for tenderness).
Serve: Pile steak and veggies into warm tortillas. Finish with fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges and your favorite toppings.
